Prescribed Fire Planning produces the documentation required to apply managed fire safely and effectively on a specific property. The plan integrates site characterization — terrain, fuel loading, adjacent conditions, ignition sources, and access — with the objectives the fire is meant to achieve. Grassland restoration reads differently than savanna maintenance. Woodland understory management reads differently than glade rehabilitation. The plan is scoped to what the ground calls for.

Firebreak assessment and unit design are part of the work. Where existing breaks are adequate, the plan documents them. Where new breaks are needed, the plan specifies location, width, and construction. Ignition patterns are designed to hold the fire within the intended unit while achieving the intended ecological effect.

Every burn plan is different because every property, every objective, and every burn window is different. The scoping conversation determines the plan's structure, the firebreaks required, and the ignition approach appropriate to the specific ground.
